SUPPORT COURSE
Course objectives.
This course is managed by the SUPPORT to COMAO Course Director and will be delivered to both TLP MOU nation personnel and non-MOU nation personnel. The course is manually managed at NATO RESTRICTED level, although it can be taught at UNCLASSIFIED level.
The TLP SUPPORT to COMAO Course aims to provide a broad awareness of COMAO to tactical operators, in order to prepare them to integrate into future operations & exercises. The course provides a forum for the various COMAO actors to share understanding of capabilities, limitations, and roles, and how to integrate effectively within a COMAO.
The TLP SUPPORT to COMAO Course offers a modular approach to participants. The first week will be focused on raising awareness about the COMAO process and the key players of the process. The course takes a top-down approach, strategic to tactical, in order for the participants to understand the reasons and processes behind the tasking and construction of a COMAO, before addressing more tactical COMAO specifics (TTPs and planning process). The course will then address ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) matters, with the goal to increase understanding of the intelligence process and products and the knowledge of ISR support platforms. The final part of the week will be dedicated to capability briefs from Joint capabilities including Naval Aviation, Special Forces, and Land entities including artillery.
Students may be required to give a 10-15 minute presentation of their current military role, expertise and platform/aircraft. Emphasis will be placed on COMAO-related assets and roles. Each student will need to have a presentation ready before the start of the first day of the course in the event these are considered to supplement a lecture.
