On February 26th, a delegation of Civil Aviation (DGAC), Spanish Air Security Agency (AESA), and ENAIRE visited the Tactical Leadership Programme facilities (TLP) at Albacete Air Base in order to know first-hand the different procedures of the Programme, especially the ones directly related to the military and civil coordination and the Flexible Use of the Airspace (FUA), as well as the complex activities during the planning and execution of every mission at TLP.
Heading the delegation, and as military representative, Lieutenant General Francisco Javier Fernández Sánchez, Deputy Chief Air Staff ESPAF accompanied by Brigadier General Julio Nieto Sampayo, Chief of Operations Division, and by a delegation of the Airspace Section (SESPA).
The visitors were received by the TLP Commandant, Colonel Andrés E. Maldonado García, who briefed them about the objectives and development of the Tactical Leadership Programme, and especially about the flying courses that take place throughout the year.
The session continued with a visit to the TLP facilities where the visitors could see for themselves the great display of resources needed for the Flying Course. They could also visit one of the participant assets, a British E-3D AWACS.
Finally, the delegation had the opportunity to attend the mission departures at Ala 14’s Control Tower, and follow the mission at TLP’s Main Briefing Room.
