Last Sunday, 26th of January 2025, TLP held a commemorative ceremony on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the fateful air crash that occurred during a TLP Flying Course 2015-01, in which 2 Greek officers and 9 French military personnel lost their lives.
The military ceremony, which took place in the TLP hangar, was presided over by the Commanding General of the Combat Air Command, Lieutenant General Julio Nieto Sampayo. Also present were the Greek Ambassador to Spain, the highest representative of the Greek Orthodox Church in Spain and Portugal, as well as two representatives of the Spanish and French military religious spheres. In turn, and as a representation of civil authorities of Albacete, attended the Subdelegate of the Government, the President of the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha, the Deputy Mayor of the city, and the deputy responsible for the Social Area, among other guests. In addition, military personnel of various nationalities attended.
The flags of the most affected nations (France and Greece) were present at the ceremony, together with the national ensign, and the respective national anthems were played by the music unit of the General Air and Space Academy (AGA). During the ceremony, Tactical Leadership Programme Commandant, Colonel César Oscar Acebes, addressed a moving speech in memory of the deceased colleagues to those present and highlighting the sacrifice of the wounded. Moreover, he offered their families and friends TLP commitment to always keep their memory alive.
It is also worth mentioning the participation of the university choir, which delighted the audience with some moving songs after each religious prayer for the deceased, as well as the act of homage to the fallen, in which a laurel wreath with two ribbons reflecting the colours of the French and Greek flags was laid.
At the end of the military ceremony, an intimate and exclusive ceremony for family and friends of the deceased, as well as for those injured in this tragedy was held at TLP Cdt Tison square, in front of the monolith dedicated to the fallen in the accident.
After these events, the attendees had the opportunity to interact with each other in a relaxed atmosphere while enjoying a simple meal offered by TLP.
Finally, both Greek and French families who had attended the event, returned to their respective countries by military aircraft that had been deployed at Albacete Air Base to facilitate their presence at the TLP events.
